Hi there, and welcome to my blog!
Let me explain first of all, why I'm blogging in English. Basically, I figured it would be interesting for my American friends to be able to read my impressions of their country, and what I experience. Besides, most of my non-American friends understand English at least somewhat. You can always contact me on Facebook or in an e-mail in Danish.
Now let's get to the point! For those of you that don't know, for whatever reason, I'm an exchange student from Denmark. Denmark is a small country in Northern Europe with a population of around 5.5 million. I live(d) in a small city called Hørning, outside of Aarhus.
But this blog isn't about Denmark, it's about what I'll experience in America! About 2 weeks ago, after much anticipation and some wait, I was told by EF that my application had made it to a hostfamily in Arizona. And just a few days ago, after having filled out the final few documents, it became official. I would spend my year in the U.S. in the state of Arizona.
My hostfamily's name is McKay, and they live in Mesa, a large suburb of Phoenix. My host dad, Gunn, is 60 years old and works as an attorney. My host mum, Jana, is a 59-year-old housewife. I will have both a host brother and host sister. My brother is Vasa, he's 17. My sister, Vika, is 18, and she is moving back in after having lived with friends.
I will be attending Westwood High School in Mesa, together with Vasa. We'll both be juniors.
The school is only a couple of blocks away. I can walk to school!
I have already been in contact with my hostfamily via e-mails, Facebook and Skype. The more I talk to them, the more excited I get about going! I truly can't wait for Thursday, when I'll be arriving in Arizona!
I'm looking forward to it all, and I'm also looking forward to sharing all the experiences from my trip with you. I'll make sure to bring a camera, so I can include some pictures aswell!
In the meantime, take care.
